FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
There are currently no earmuffs on the market that are rated this high despite some companies advertising this figure. Unfortunately, some sellers make dishonest claims about their products to push for higher sales. Our Earmuffs have an honest NRR of 28dB which is high enough to shoot an AR15 at ...
Yes, they are adjustable. The earmuff cups move up and down on the metal sliders so you can adjust to different head sizes.
No, they can not be detached for helmets.
No, they are not wrapped individually but they do come in a re-sealable pack.
We don't sell an electronic set yet. We anticipate introducing them next year but unfortunately for now, we cannot supply them.
Yes absolutely. These earplugs are soft and malleable to fit your ear comfortably. They are perfect to keep inserted for long periods of time, such as sleeping.
For hearing protection, it reduces the outside noise by 28dB and is tested to ANSI standards to achieve this.
If not worn correctly, you can have noise leakage that will reduce this. For example, if you have long hair, you must tie it back to ensure a firm fit. Caps can also interfere with the noise seal, leaving space for noise to leak in. The safety glasses are designed to have thin arms and minimize any interference to the sound. Please remember that earmuffs are not designed to remove all noise but only to reduce it to safe levels.
The earmuffs don't require much maintenance. Please keep them clean and dry and store them in the case after use. To adjust them, simply slide the cups up and down on the wire slides so they fit comfortably on your head. Ensure that if you have long hair, it is tied back behind your head. The idea is to have as flat a surface as possible for the earmuffs to seal against.
We fit about 95% of head sizes however that does mean that we don't fit 5%. If you have trouble finding a set to fit your size, perhaps our set would not be suitable.
We currently do not offer larger quantities, but we'll sell them in a box of 200 pairs in the next few months.
It is a personal choice. Some people prefer over-ear protection, and some prefer earplugs. if you have sensitive hearing wearing both together is the way to go. We offer both over-ear and earplugs so that you can find the best option for you. Please note that when wearing ear protection, you can still hear the noise around you, it is just reduced by the Noise Reduction Rating (NRR) and Tradesmart's are 28dB for the over-ear and 33dB for the earplugs.
Although the over-ear is a lower NRR, it is more than sufficient for most high-caliber firearms at the range and most people (99%).
Electronic earmuffs tend to be a lower rating again, and as you can normally hear your instructor comfortably whilst wearing passive earmuffs, I would not recommend spending the extra money on electronic ones at the range. Electronic earmuffs were designed mainly for hunting, where you need to hear the wildlife around you.
The earmuff headband is a plastic composite that is flexible yet strong and will not break. This is covered by a full-length padded headband for additional comfort.
Unlike other companies that make unrealistic claims about their products, TradeSmart gives you an honest rating, not inflated for sales.
The earmuffs are rated to NRR28 which will block even an AR15 at the range but still allow you to hear instructors. The earplugs are rated NRR33. Combined, you will have NRR 38 protection, the highest protection currently available.
The metal parts are made from spring steel. They are rust-resistant and won't rust up if they get wet, however salt spray is particularly harsh and may cause rust over time. If you keep them dry and clean, you will have no problems.
Yes, it will protect you from your noisy kids, but it will not stop you from seeing them.
Yes, the earmuffs work perfectly in a factory setting. TradeSmart was originally designed for tradesmen.
The anti-fog coating that we use is expensive and high-quality meaning that this situation shouldn't have happened. In the past, there have been a few customers with the same problem as you, and there were two possible reasons for the anti-fog not working:
1. Our factory has missed the anti-fog coating in the production process. :(
2. The customer has used an alcohol cleaner to clean the glasses removing the coating. (We include the lint-free pouch for cleaning)
If you're having this problem, please message us so we can resolve this issue to your satisfaction. :)
Yes, the glasses are ANSI Z87.1, CE & AS/NZS compliant which means that they are to American, European, and Australian/New Zealand safety standards for industrial use and at the firing range.
Hi-impact resistant is a marketing term used to describe ANSI-compliant safety glasses.
You can use them in a welding shop where safety glasses are required, but they are not rated to protect your eyes from someone welding (although they should be using screens) and can't be used for welding.
That would require a completely different type of glasses altogether.
They were not designed for this purpose however other customers report that if your glasses are quite small, then they may be suitable.
Our clear glasses are designed for indoor use and are perfect for gun ranges or low-light environments.
The tinted glasses are more for outdoor use.
Unfortunately, no, and this would not be recommended as it would not conform to ANSI standards. The reason all safety glasses are plastic is that they do not shatter.
If your lenses were to shatter, this could do more damage than not wearing glasses.
Yes, this pack comes with 1 pair of clear glasses and 1 pair of tinted glasses for a total of 2 pairs.
You would not replace these lenses with prescription lenses. The clear lenses will protect your prescription lenses from smashing if a projectile was to hit the glasses.
One of the advantages of our glasses is that the arms are thin. This stops the arms from creating a gap when used with earmuffs allowing sound to penetrate which is particularly important for sharp, loud noises, such as at a gun range.
Our glasses also don't have to reinforce on the top to make them rigid. This is to ensure that they fit multiple ranges of head sizes and more importantly, don't squeeze tight onto the head causing headaches.
This makes them appear lighter than others but rest assured that they are ANSI compliant as well as CE (Europe) and ASNZS (Australia and New Zealand), so they will not break if a projectile was to hit them (Within ANSI testing standards).
Most of our customers report that they are so comfortable that they forget they have them on. I'm sure once you give them a go, you will be satisfied but appreciate that they may not be exactly what you are looking for.
The safety glasses have not been designed to go over prescription glasses however some of our customers with small-frame glasses have used them successfully.
If you have small frame glasses and a smaller size head then this may work for you, but we cannot guarantee the results.
As they are "wrap-around" lenses, they flex to fit larger heads and should be suitable for smaller heads.
The glasses are no problems for older kids say from 8 to 10 years and older but ultimately it depends on the size of the child. If they are small for their age, then they might be too big.
Hard Carrying Case
It doesn't have a carry handle exactly but there is an indentation in the top for easy gripping and carrying plus it has a carabiner that can be used to clip it to your bag or elsewhere.
It fits everything! The case fits earmuffs, eye protection, and earplugs.
We have designed it to be as compact as possible so as not to take up to much room in the bag and also durable and scratch-resistant.
We believe that the quality is far greater than the cheaper cases out there whilst still being competitive on price.
At the moment, we don't sell the case separately. We may look at doing this in the future but at this stage, it is not available.
No, there is no additional room. This case was made to be as compact as possible whilst still protecting your kit so we made sure there was no wasted space in your gun bag.
Yep that's right, we believe so much in the quality of our protection kits, that we offer a 10-year warranty against defects in manufacturing. Let's be clear that this is not a magic wand that allows free safety glasses and disposable earplugs for ten years. So if you rub your glasses on sandpaper or run your disposable earplugs through the washing machine after your 10th wear, this is not covered. Full conditions are available on the website below the warranty application.
